I’ve decided to create a new section for the site.  Each week I will dig through the internets and pick out an item that screams awesome geekyness.  This week the item is:

The haikus in the book start off pretty normal but change to a more sinister nature as becomes more and more…undead.

It seems like the whole world is kinda slowing down in preparation for GTA4. Its hard to find any gaming news that doesn’t have to do with GTA4 is some way. I did listen to IGN’s podcast concerning the game and found that Niko will be somewhat of a moral compass, showing you that killing that hooker might not be such a good idea.

My world is kinda just frozen waiting on GTA4 even though I have a lot of things going on my eyes drift over to the calender with GTA4 written on it. Expect a writeup of my experiences with the game after my first 24 hours with it.

This tattoo is just beautiful. I sat and stared at its awesomeness pondering if I should steal their design for myself; then I saw that this tattoo was located squarely on the guy’s butt.

The next-gen has brought a social revolution to gaming. Games like Unreal Tournament 3, Army of Two, and Burnout Paradise allow you to play the story mode of the game with a friend over the internet. Problem is some gamers just don’t have friends; that’s where social networks come in.

I have at least one friend I can always play co-op games with; but when I heard Resistance 2 would not only have a co-op campaign for 8 players but it will be separate from the normal campaign I have been been searching for 6 more people to game with by then.

Here are some of the sites I’ve found in my search to find a good social network to connect to fellow gamers (at least till Home comes out):

Gamestrata.com – An online ranking system and social network, the site develops community tools for gamers. Form Groups for your game of choice, have your own personal forum, share tips and tricks, achievements and stats, and form clans.

RecruitingGrounds.com – Find and manage clans, play free arcade style games and build your own online gaming profile. Recruiting Grounds also offers tournaments, and tournament creation, gaming news and multimedia, as well as classified ads, groups and forums to get involved with.

Pwned.com – The site has a surprisingly large number of girls since Girls Entertainment Network, a geek girls site, promotes the site. This site has a simplified myspace interface and allows you gaming IDs, games, and other information to your profile. You can search for people based what games they have on their profile, their name, or their location. Doing things like uploading photos, posting comments, and taking surveys will award you points which can be traded in for prizes down the road. This site suffers from the myspace problem and allows people too much freedom with profiles which can result it large, cluttered, and even annoying profiles.

1up.com – This site comes from the makers of the Electronic Gaming Monthly, or EGM, and is primarily a news resource. If you register you can create a profile and search for other games in your area or by game. You can form/join clubs and post on the forums. This was the first gaming network I found and it allowed me to find a couple local PS3 gamers; sadly they didn’t really pan out and haven’t actually played and games with them.

I have checked all these sites out and no one seems to have gotten it just right yet. I’m waiting for something as powerful but simplied as facebook. Home will be here by christmas which might just bring the want/need for these service down. You can check out the above links and see if any of them appeal to you.

There are many things brownies can be filled with but not playstation deliciousness; until now. It uses the power of Girl Scout Thin Mints to bring the taste and awesomeness to these brownies. I’m not the biggest fan of Thin Mints, but I might just have to let my taste buds take the day off so I can fill my stomach with gaming goodness. Follow the link for recipe.

Since I don’t have an incredible amount of free time, I usually don’t post on the small things; but this is such a stupid mistake I couldn’t resist. The new Okami cover has a watermark from the gaming site ign.com since they used the following picture as a background:

I’m not sure if IGN is happy for the free advertising or gearing up their lawyers for a war. Either way, this mistake will surely teach future publishers to put more time into cover art or at least look at it before it ships.
